Candy From Neighbors is a pseudo-sequel to last year’s Candy From Strangers. Originally meant to follow the same pattern and story of the original, it became obvious that all of those ideas had been fully mined, and there weren’t many leftovers worth using. So, digging deep into a chasm of horror and soundscapes, samples began getting pulled and the tracks started to be built. But… inspiration cannot be forced- and as CFS basically happened by accident, nothing came of the sessions. The album was about to be scrapped, when suddenly, the tape once again started to create a life of its own. And where the samples began, they suddenly stopped, only to be overshadowed by ghostly voices and sounds from beyond. The slaughter soon became a séance, and the music suddenly began to once again take shape. All in total, 18 songs were recorded- some were merged with others to become whole, some were scrapped indefinitely.

The final version of Candy From Neighbors is 12 tracks, running just under 60 minutes, and is packed with the things you’ve come to expect from Monster Zero- and so much more. Dialing back somewhat on the continuously heavy distorted sounds of the previous entry in the series, this new mix of tracks finds more comfort in awkward silence, ambient tones, and disfigured loops, all competing for attention atop ritualistic chants, field recordings, samples, and authentic examples of electronic voice phenomena. Disintegrating tape, deep reverb and delay, droning chords, and aggressive noise- all haunted by distant voices and the familiar sounds of childhood horror and thrill.

Physical copies include bonus artwork designed specifically for this release.
